riginal 1960 first-release Psycho movie poster. It’s in serious need of restoration. Someone initially used spray adhesive to mount it on cardstock, then taped the edges. Then later, in someones failed attempt to remove the backing, they tore off the entire top edge—ugh. First step: removing the backing. I’m using 140°F water to reactivate the spray glue, which will allow me to safely remove it.

A very scarse poster thats seen some things. haha Original 1982 Basket Case 1-SH Movie Poster. Very few posters were lroduced of this movie due to its limited release, but it has since become quite a cult classic in the horror scene. Most of the posters that do exist are in very rough shape. Recently acquired this very rare Gene Tierney movie poster insert in quite unknown condition. It was glued to cardboard, split in half, with tape, stains, and more. Quite the project! Wrapping up the final touches on linen backing this billboard-sized poster. It was a challenge working with the light background colors to remove stains and a century’s worth of dirt, but it cleaned up beautifully thanks to a lot of elbow grease. Some more progress getting this monster linen backed. 4 Large pannels on this poster. Each about the size of a French Grande poster. The hardest part is making sure each pannel is lined up perfectly. It takes a few minutes to do it perfectly. Especially when they arent printed to the exact size and scale. haha. We begin by first inspecting each poster for authenticity before initiating any restoration work. A preemptive prep stage follows, where any tape or residue is gently removed to prepare the poster for wet work.

Next, the posters undergo a thorough cleaning process using a gentle wash solution to eliminate dirt and acidity from the paper. For posters in need of additional care, a gentle bleaching process is applied to brighten the paper, eradicate mold and stains, and restore the original colors.

Once cleaned, the posters are carefully mounted onto canvas previously lined with acid-free archival paper, using pH-balanced wheat paste glue. After drying, basic color restoration is applied using water-soluble watercolor pencils as needed, ensuring a rejuvenated appearance.
